Once You're There

We’re excited to share a few of our favorite places in the area with you

U.S. Space & Rocket Center

Huntsville is home to the state's most visited attraction and the largest space museum in the world: the U.S. Space & Rocket Center (USSRC).

Not only is America’s space program on exhibit in Huntsville, but it was also forged here. We’re known as the “Rocket City” because Huntsville, Alabama, is where the rockets that put man on the moon were developed.

Big Spring International Park lured settlers to Huntsville over 200 years ago, and the city has celebrated it ever since - growing up around this green space and preserving it for its citizens. Children will love the famously friendly ducks, geese and koi that call the Big Spring home. As you explore, be sure to notice the famous red bridge and cherry trees which were gifts to the city from Japan.

The 112-acre garden is open year-round and features a variety of ecosystems. The specialty here is Alabama’s native plants. You can stroll along the woodland paths and discover flowers in various gardens and aquatic habitats. The Damson Aquatic Garden is a 100-foot pool with an Aquatic Pavilion showcasing a variety of wildlife, water lilies, and lotus.

If your kiddos are between the ages of two and nine, the Earlyworks Children’s Museum needs to be on your must-do list. They’ll love the museum’s interactive, hands-on approach to history. The littlest ones will find the Talking Tree enchanting, where they’ll hear a variety of folk tales about Native American Culture and the history of Alabama. Nothing is off-limits, as they can climb, touch, pull, and check things out.
